An Old Dog with New Tricks: Innovations in Ultrasound Elastography

Many progressive advancements in ultrasound imaging over the last several years have led to improvements in ultrasound image quality as well as to the introduction of new and innovative ultrasound-based techniques. With the changing healthcare landscape, there is a renewed focus on ultrasound given its safety profile and accessibility. The addition of advanced imaging tools, such as shear wave elastography, can dramatically enhance care and influence patient management.

You will learn:

  • New innovations have improved ultrasound image quality.
  • Ultrasound elastography is a noninvasive measurement of tissue stiffness.
  • Shear wave elastography may help stage liver disease by quantifying the degree of liver fibrosis.

Speaker: David Fetzer, MD, Associate Professor Radiology, UT Southwestern Medical Center
